Day 1: Jerusalem – A Journey Through Time

Welcome to Jerusalem, a city soaked in history and spirituality. We’ll start our day with an orientation session, providing an overview of Jerusalem’s rich history and an introduction to the key sites we’ll be visiting.

Our 4-day senior tour begins in the Old City, where you’ll experience the Western Wall, a sacred Jewish prayer and reflection site. From there, we’ll visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, revered as the site of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. Walking through the Via Dolorosa, you’ll retrace the steps of Jesus on his way to the crucifixion, all the way to the Christian Quarter.

For lunch, we’ll try traditional Israeli dishes at a local restaurant. Enjoy the flavors of falafel, hummus, and fresh salads, all in a cozy dining environment.

In the afternoon, we’ll shortly walk and tour the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque (viewing from the outside for non-Muslims). We’ll then explore the Jewish Quarter, where you’ll walk along the ancient Roman Cardo, the main thoroughfare from Roman and Byzantine times, and have some free time for shopping in the best Judaica boutiques.

By the end of the day, we’ll return to the hotel for rest. For those interested, an optional evening walk along Ben Yehuda Street offers a taste of Jerusalem’s vibrant nightlife. But I suggest resting and preparing for the next upcoming day.
